Connecting Facebook and Instagram

If you own a business, you likely have a Facebook page and an Instagram account. To make the most out of both, linking them is crucial! Since Facebook owns Instagram (shoutout to Meta), connecting your accounts allows your business to thrive, since Facebook encourages users to link up. Connecting your Facebook and Instagram can:

  • Unify content

  • Make it easier to run ads

  • Help you run an effective social media strategy

  • Provide cohesive analytics

  • Build brand awareness

  • Create sales leads

  • Allow you to auto publish through scheduling apps such as Later and Hootsuite

And more!

How to Connect Facebook and Instagram

Before you begin the process of linking your accounts, there are a few important things to note:

  • Ensure your Instagram profile is a business or creator account.

  • Make sure you are an admin of your Facebook page. If you aren’t, you won’t be able to complete this process.

First, you need to add your Instagram account to your Facebook page.To do this (if your page is a classic Page):

  1. Open your Facebook Page.

  2. In the left menu, select Settings.

  3. Choose Instagram.

  4. Select Connect Account. Make sure the "Allow access to Instagram messages in Inbox" is toggled on, then click Continue. Enter your Instagram account's Username and Password, then Log in.

To connect your accounts through Facebook (if your page is a new Pages experience):

  1. Switch into your new Page.

  2. Choose Manage under your cover photo on the right.

  3. Under the Professional dashboard in the left menu, scroll down and click Linked accounts.

  4. Click Connect account. Enter your Instagram account's Username and Password, and choose Log in.

To finish the process, you’ll need to head over to Instagram:

  1. Open your Instagram app.

  2. Go to your profile by tapping your profile picture in the bottom right corner.

  3. At the top right corner, tap the 3 horizontal lines, and then choose Settings.

  4. Tap Accounts Center at the bottom, then choose Set Up Accounts Center.

  5. Choose Add Facebook account. Either log in or select the account you should connect to.

  6. Tap Yes, finish Setup.

  7. Select if you want to sync your profile picture, then tap Continue.

Now, you should be linked up!
